Michael Krauss is a native of North Carolina where he received his BFA in Theatre Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2009). Upon graduating he worked in the Durham County Schools district as a Technical Theatre Educator before pursuing his MFA at the University of Texas at Austin in Scenic Design (2016).
During this time he designed several productions with UT and other companies including: The Pillowman, Fame! The Musical, Refugia (in collaboration with The Moving Company), Enter a Woman, Pretty Enough, and Three Decembers/At The Statue of Venus (UT Butler Opera Theatre). Since graduating, he has continued to work in the community through Butler Opera Theatre (Suor Angelica/Gianni Schicchi) and the ZACH Theatre as a scenic designer for Charlotte's Web, JJ's Arcade (ZACH/Teatro Vivo), and Tuna Christmas, and designing the regional tour of Greater Tuna (both directed by playwright Jaston Williams).
His film credits include National Geographic's The Long Road Home (Production Assistant, Art Department); Fear The Walking Dead Season 4 (AMC, Production Assistant Art Department), Seasons 5-7 (Set Designer); Special (Netflix-Set Dresser); Look Both Ways (Netflix, Set Designer); as well as Set Designer for Alita Battle Angel: Passport To Iron City.
Most recently, he served as Assistant Art Director on Tales of the Walking Dead (AMC), Art Director for Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 (Paramount) & Assistant Art Director for 1923 Season 2.
